How I manage
my finances
I've been using Wealthsimple for a few years now β commission-free trading, a high-interest Cash account, and the simplest tax filing I've ever done. Genuinely happy with it.

Trusted & Secure
Over 3 million Canadians use it, including me. My accounts are CIPF-protected β peace of mind matters.
Low Fees
I stopped paying my bank's high fees. Wealthsimple's Cash account earns interest my old bank never offered.
Smart Investing
I started with managed investing, then moved to self-directed trading as I got more comfortable. Both work great.
Premium Benefits
As my balance grew, I unlocked lower fees and better perks. It genuinely gets better the more you use it.

Products I Use
Managed Investing
I use Wealthsimple's managed investing for my RRSP. It automatically builds and rebalances a diversified ETF portfolio for me β I set it up once and it just runs. Low fees, automatic rebalancing, dividend reinvestment. I went with the classic portfolio but there are also socially responsible and Halal options.
Wealthsimple Trade
I do my active trading here. Commission-free stocks and ETFs, fractional shares from $1, options, and all the registered accounts you need (TFSA, RRSP, FHSA). I was blown away that Canada finally has a platform like this.
Wealthsimple Cash
My everyday account. No monthly fees, earns high interest, and the Mastercard is great for day-to-day spending. I set up my direct deposit here and haven't looked back. The $1M CDIC coverage through their partner banks is a huge plus.
Wealthsimple Crypto
I hold some crypto here. 90+ coins, regulated and insured cold storage, and I can withdraw to my own wallet. I also stake ETH here β the rewards aren't huge but it's effortless. Probably the safest way to hold crypto in Canada.
Wealthsimple Tax
I've been filing my taxes with Wealthsimple Tax for the past few years. It's free (pay what you want), auto-fills from the CRA, and I've always gotten my full refund. Genuinely the easiest tax experience I've had.
Cashback Credit Card
I recently got the Wealthsimple credit card. Every purchase earns 2% back with no categories to track, there's no FX fee even when I'm buying in another currency, and the cash back deposits straight into my account. It now comes in two tiers β the base Visa Infinite+, and the Visa Infinite Privilege, which is the one that actually unlocks lounge access once your income or assets qualify.
Start with $0 β seriously
I started with very little. No minimums, no excuses. Open an account in under 5 minutes.

What I Learned Withdrawing From an RESP for the First Time
My daughter started CEGEP this month and I had to actually withdraw from her RESP for the first time. The rules for taking money out turned out to be a lot less obvious than the rules for putting it in.
